How to Get to Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium on Public Transport

By Tube and Train

It’s really easy to get to the Emirates Stadium by Tube (the Underground) or train. The nearest Tube station is Arsenal on the Piccadilly line, which is just around a three-minute walk to the ground. Be aware, however, that there is no step-free access from the platform to the exit at this station.

There is wheelchair access at the Finsbury Park station (which you can get to on either the Victoria or Picadilly line or via Great Northern rail). It’s around a ten-minute walk to the Emirates Stadium from here.

Also around a ten-minute walk from the stadium is the Highbury & Islington Tube station (accessed via the North London or Victoria line or Great Northern rail), which is wheelchair accessible and boasts the advantage of being usually less crowded than the Arsenal and Finsbury Park stops.

If you’ll be coming to watch an Arsenal FC football match at Emirates Stadium at by train from another part of the UK, this is also likely to be an easy journey. King’s Cross is the station you’ll probably arrive at once your train reaches London: it’s the main connecting station for national rail as well as many Tube lines. From here, you can hop onto a connecting Tube train to the Emirates Stadium via either the Piccadilly or Victoria Line. Alternatively, travel overground to Finsbury Park station, which is just one quick stop down the line.

Be Aware of the Managed Queueing System

If this will be your first trip to see The Gunners play on their home turf, I need to tell you about the crowd management systems in place at the nearby stations, designed to keep fans safe and avoid a crush.

For Arsenal station, the managed queueing system is outside the station, on Gillespie Road, while at Finsbury Park station it’s outside on St Thomas’ Road and Rock Street, and Seven Sisters Road and Isledon Road.

If you’ll be arriving at or departing from Highbury & Islington station the queue is on the south side of Holloway Road. Given that, before and after matches, there is no direct access to the queueing system or station from Highbury Fields, it’s a good idea for spectators to follow the route down Holloway Road.

By Bus

Tube and train aren’t the only way to get to Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium. If you’re staying in London, the bus could be a convenient and cost-effective option. The main bus stops for the venue are:

  • Holloway Road
  • Seven Sisters Road
  • Nag’s Head
  • Blackstock Road
  • Highbury Corner

Services are typically high frequency, offering direct routes throughout much of central and north London, dropping spectators off a five-to-ten-minute walk to the Emirates Stadium. Transport for London (TfL) buses are all wheelchair accessible and have priority seats, clearly marked, for those with limited mobility.

Getting to the Emirates Stadium by Car

Thinking of traveling to the Arsenal FC match by car? I highly advise reconsidering – the stadium is located in a residential area of the city with stringent parking regulations in place. Finding parking near the Emirates Stadium on match day is not unlike finding a needle in a haystack.  There are, however, some accessible parking spaces available for those with disabilities, and you can find out more about how to apply for one of these parking spaces here.

To get to the Emirates Stadium by car from outside London you’ll need to leave the M1 at Junction 2 to get onto the A1. From here, follow the signs for Central London (City) on the A1 for around six miles until you spot the Holloway Road Tube station on the right. At the traffic lights take the next left onto Hornsey Road, and the stadium is around a quarter of a mile further on. If you need the postcode for the sat nav, it’s N5 1BU.

How to Get to Arsenal FC’s Stadium by Bike

You’ve got another option for getting to the Arsenal FC home game: by pedal power! It’s a great means of traveling to the stadium without getting caught up in queues and crowds, and there are plenty of options to hire bicycles throughout the city.

There are several cycle routes in the area, making getting to the venue an easy affair. Secure bicycle parking is clearly signposted and available near Arsenal’s Highbury House store on Drayton Park.

What About Walking to the Emirates Stadium?

You could always walk to the venue if your accommodation is relatively close to the Emirates Stadium. Helpfully, there’s a pedestrian colour coding system in place to help you easily find your way to the ground. If you’ll be dropped off by taxi, Uber, or a kind friend, the recommended drop-off and pick-up point is on Hornsey Road, outside the Armoury Store. From here, it’s less than a one-minute walk to the ground’s Media Entrance.
