UEFA Euro 2024 in Munich, the Ultimate Host City

Munich is a great choice for a Euro 2024 host city. Its vibrant, Bavarian energy, party atmosphere, and endless amount of activities and attractions will ensure that every visitor to Munich has a brilliant time.

Plus, the city is the home of Bundesliga giants Bayern, Germany’s most successful domestic club of all time. Munich lives and breathes football, and the city can’t wait to showcase its love for the world game on the biggest stage there is.

Times and Dates of Euro 2024 Munich Matches

Munich is set to host six matches at Euro 2024, including four group-stage matches, a round-of-16 match, and a semi-final. The dates for Euro 2024 matches in Munich are:

9 pm CEST, Friday, June 14thGermany vs Scotland (Group A)
3 pm CEST, Monday, June 17thRomania vs Play-off winner B (Group E)
3 pm CEST, Thursday, June 20thSlovenia vs Serbia (Group C)
9 pm CEST, Tuesday, June 25thDenmark vs Serbia (Group C)
6 pm CEST, Tuesday, July 2ndE1 vs best third-placed group finisher (R16)
9 pm CEST, Tuesday, July 8thSemi-final

Undoubtedly the biggest match on this list is the Group A showdown between Germany and Scotland on June 14th. This marks the very first match of Euro 2024, and with the host country Germany taking the field, all eyes will be on Munich as this long-anticipated event finally gets underway.

For those of us who love the drama, the knockout matches will likely also be action-packed. Munich’s round of 16 match sees the first-placed finisher of Group E (either Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, or one team that’s still TBD) play the best third-place finisher, who has snuck out of the group stage and will be hoping to cause some havoc in the knockouts.

Euro 2024 Munich Ticket Info and Prices

If you’re lucky (and well-organized), you may have already secured your seats for Euro 2024 in Munich. UEFA’s official ticketing windows have closed, and if you applied, you should be hearing soon (by the end of January 2024) whether or not you were successful. If you haven’t secured your tickets yet, you’ll be relieved to hear that there are still opportunities to purchase Euro 2024 tickets

March 2024 Update : The tickets that were listed in the UEFA’s ReSale Platform were sold out on March 13th. The platform will be re-open for resale of resale tickets soon. Check UEFA’s ticket page for updates.

UEFA awards tickets to each football federation of the qualified countries. The federations then determine how these tickets will be allocated to the fans, with different rules for each country. If you’re following a specific team around for Euro 2024, you can select your team here for more information on how to get your hands on those tickets.

If you still can’t secure tickets (many federations have already communicated that their tickets are sold out), you’ll have to wait until UEFA’s official resale window. UEFA has announced that there will be an official Euro 2024 Ticket Resale Platform, but the dates for this platform haven’t been communicated yet. You might be able to find tickets for sale on third-party platforms, but purchasing outside of UEFA’s official portal does put you at risk of ticket scalpers and scams

In terms of pricing, it’s all about the seats you choose. Ticket prices for the group stage range from €30 to €200, depending on the seats. The exception is the opening match in Munich, which is priced from €50 to €600. Round of 16 matches are priced from €50 to €250, while the semi-final tickets are selling for €80 to €600.

Munich Football Arena

All six of Munich’s Euro 2024 matches will be played at the same stadium – Munich Football Arena (AKA Allianz Arena), the home of FC Bayern. The stadium is set to have a capacity of around 66,000 for Euro 2024 matches, as stadium capacities are always reduced for FIFA and UEFA tournaments.

The stadium is located north of the city center, but easily accessible by car or the U-bahn underground subway system. The gates to the stadium will open three hours prior to kickoff, giving you plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a traditional Bayern bratwurst before the whistle blows.

Munich Fan Zones for Euro 2024

If you don’t have tickets to Euro 2024 but you’re in Munich when there are games going on, don’t head to the stadium. UEFA has made it pretty clear that there won’t be any events or activities outside the stadium before, during, or after games, and has also pointed out that transit in and around the stadium will be extremely busy.

Instead, head to Olympic Park (sometimes written as Olympiapark), a huge sporting complex on the north-western edge of the city. Olympic Park was where Munich hosted the Summer Olympic Games in 1972, and for Euro 2024, it will be transformed into a vibrant, chaotic Fan Zone from June 14th to July 14th.

Open every day throughout the tournament, the Fan Zone will feature free public viewing of all Euro 2024 matches (on an amazing floating screen on Olympic Lake), as well as live music, football-related activities for all ages, other fitness activities like yoga classes, live music and performances, eSports tournaments, and live interviews and podcasts.

Special Events for Euro 2024 in Munich

As well as the dedicated Fan Zone at Olympic Park, there’s much more Euro 2024 hype set to take over Munich this summer. In the heart of the city you’ll find Marienplatz, a pedestrian square, which will have select events and decorations in honor of the tournament.

You’ll also see street artists providing entertainment in the square throughout the tournament, with each performance reflecting solidarity, togetherness, fair play, excitement, and enthusiasm – the values that the European Championship was first founded on.

Travel Deals for Euro 2024 in Munich

Traveling to a large event like Euro 2024 is often the trickiest part of your trip to organize. Between flights, accommodation for Euro 2024 in Munich, and transport around the city while you’re there, there’s a lot to coordinate, and it can quickly become very expensive.

Taking advantage of travel deals is a great way to save money and keep your Euro 2024 budget on track. But how do you find these deals, and what types of travel deals are available for Euro 2024 in Munich? Let’s take a look.

Accommodation Deals

If you haven’t booked your flights to Munich for Euro 2024 yet, explore whether you can save by bundling your flights with a hotel room. Transport Deals

If you have tickets to any Euro 2024 matches in Munich, you’re entitled to a free travel pass for the entire MVV public transit network across the city. It’s valid for 36 hours (from 6 am on the day of the match until 6 pm the following day) and lets you take any public transport, including the U-Bahn that takes you to the stadium, for free.

Given that there’s extremely limited parking at the stadium, and it must be reserved ahead of time, public transport is the best way to reach Allianz Arena. With your free travel pass, you’ll be able to save a few dollars, and the 36-hour window means you can also use it to explore some of the other sights across the city.

Tourist/Visitor Passes for Attractions

If you’re planning on exploring more of Munich during your visit, there are two different visitor passes that might be worth a look. Make sure you read the fine print and understand what’s included, but often these cards are a great way to see a lot of the city without paying full price everywhere you go.

The “Munich Card” offers deals of up to 70% off on select events and activities, and can be purchased with or without the addition of free public transport. Another option is the “Munich City Pass,” which gives you free entry to 45 top attractions and tours across the city, and can also come either with or without public transport.

Euro 2024 Fan Meet-Ups in Munich

Although the only official fan meet-up is currently the Fan Zone in Olympic Park, it’s possible that more meet-ups and events will be organized as that June 14th date we’re all waiting for creeps closer. Make sure you keep an eye on social media and forums like Reddit to see events happening in and around Munich.

If you do decide to meet up with fans, make sure you do so in a public location. If possible, don’t attend a non-official UEFA meet-up alone, for your own safety

Official Merchandise For Euro 2024 Munich

While there hasn’t been much talk of official Euro 2024 merch just yet, you’ll likely be able to get your hands on some at the stadium, as well as the Fan Zone at Olympic Park. If you’re looking for specific Euro 2024 merch for Munich, this may be available at these locations as well as online as the tournament gets closer.
