Chelsea Fans Accommodation Guide near Stamford Bridge

Stamford Bridge, the home of the Premier League giants Chelsea, sits in one of the most desirable and premium areas of London, making luxury a fixture in the many hotels and accommodation options.

This list will hopefully give you some ideas as to where to locate yourself when traveling to watch Chelsea play. It is worth noting that the Chelsea and Fulham area is relatively small, so the majority of hotels and apartments are within touching distance of The Bridge.

Let’s have a look at some cheaper options for those on a budget, some mid to top-tier hotels, a club hotel built for football fans, and talk about how to utilise websites like Airbnb to rent short-term apartments.

Are There Cheap Hotels Near Stamford Bridge?

As one of the most premium and luxurious areas of London, to say Chelsea is affluent would be an understatement. The sheer scale of property prices (and pretty much everything) in the West London borough makes searching for a cheap hotel reminiscent of finding a needle in a haystack. Through some searching, we have found some great hotels sitting at the bottom end of the price range, so your wallet can thank you later.

hub by Premier Inn London West Brompton Hotel

Our first cheap hotel recommendation is the ‘hub’ West Brompton. As part of Premier Inn London, ‘hub’ echoes the budget-friendly yet stylish, clean, and comfortable nature the chain has become known for.

Although the rooms are smaller than others, they are cozy and economical. You get high-speed, free internet access, hot showers, and even tea and breakfast in the morning to help you on your way to the game. From only £60 per night and situated about 20-30 minutes away from Stamford Bridge, it is hard to find a more balanced option around the Chelsea area for the cost.

Location: 11-15 Lillie Rd, London SW6 1TX

Travelodge London Fulham

This location follows the Travelodge blueprint that focuses on value for money and functionality while being in a good location relative to Stamford Bridge. The basic, sometimes noisy, yet comfortable Travelodge Fulham is only a 10-15 minute walk from the stadium and 5-10 minutes from Fulham Broadway and West Brompton station, giving fans direct access to Central London via the District Line.

Within a radius packed to the brim with classy restaurants, it is a sensible option for fans who want to explore the local delicacies in the area after the game. Depending on how early in advance you book the room, you can expect a price range from £40-£100 per night, which makes it firmly at the lower end of the spectrum. Be cautious during the summer, as many guests have raised concerns over the lack of air conditioning.

Mid-Range Hotels for Fans

Now, moving onto the next pricing bracket, where rooms range from £100 to £200 per night. Although the distance to Stamford Bridge is largely similar to many on the list, with these recommendations, you get extra amenities that may make your weekend traveling to see Chelsea play that much smoother.

Park Grand London Kensington

The Earl’s Court-based Park Grand London Kensington sits nicely within the mid-range bracket, with an impressive location, clean and modern rooms, a fitness centre, a bar, and a solid restaurant offering afternoon tea Indian style.

At this price range, with rooms starting at around £130 per night, you are getting more bang for your buck in my opinion. Rather than the somewhat basic nature of a Travelodge or Premier Inn, the Park Grand provides a taste of Chelsea’s luxurious side, with not too far a disparity in cost.

Located near a few other of the more premium options on the list, I can vouch for the quality of the surrounding area and the ease of accessibility despite a 30-minute walk to the stadium.

Location: 33 / 37 Hogarth Road Kensington, London, SW5 0QQ

The Chelsea Harbour Hotel & Spa

Under the same umbrella as the Millenium Hotel at Stamford Bridge, The Chelsea Harbour Hotel & Spa is excellent for fans who want to indulge in a weekend of luxury and stay in a hotel reminiscent of a Monaco harbor within walking distance of Stamford Bridge.

From £200 per night, this stay does come at a premium, but with world-class amenities such as a spa, indoor pool, The Anchor restaurant overlooking the Thames, and the option for afternoon tea when staying for longer periods, you do get plenty of value overall.

Location: Chelsea Harbour Dr, Fulham, London SW10 0XG England

The Resident Kensington

As the name suggests, The Resident Kensington is a serviced hotel located in the Kensington area of London, sitting right near Earl’s Court and a 30-minute walk from Stamford Bridge. There is more of a tailored feel to the Resident, with seven different room types to choose from and a real focus on room service.

This is a solid option for those who want to remain in the Chelsea area for two days or more, as you can kick back and settle in. With prices at the top of the mid-range, starting at £180 per night for a single room, it can be considered steep. But with the peaceful vibe, along with a classy interior, you get what you pay for.

Location: 25 Courtfield Gardens, London, SW5 0PG

Premium Hotels for Chelsea Fans

Heading into premium territory now, these options are for fans who want to treat themselves to a holistically luxurious experience when coming to watch Chelsea play.

Hotel Indigo London – Kensington, An IHG Hotel

The Hotel Indigo is perfectly named, as it is vibrant, full of colour, and an artist’s dream. Aside from the impeccable approach to design, there is a distinctly European feel to it, which makes it a great option for fans coming from abroad who want that continental ambiance. With a kitchen and bar that opens throughout the day, a pre-game drink or a nightcap after the match is on the cards here.

Located in the affluent Earl’s Court area, a short walk from Earl’s Court underground station and a 20-30 minute walk to Stamford Bridge, you can swiftly get between the best restaurants and landmarks in London while also being able to stroll to a Chelsea game with ease. The Indigo will set you back around £200 for the basic room and £300 for the top-tier booking.

Location: 34 – 44 Barkston Gardens, London SW5 0EW

The Kensington

It doesn’t get much more luxurious than The Kensington, with the interior of a stately home, a spa offering deep tissue massages, and afternoon tea that makes you feel like a Royal.

You may be thinking, “Surely this comes at a premium?”. Yes, it does indeed, with the lowest tier room starting from £375 per night and the top suite, ‘The Kensington Suite,’ boasting a whopping £3750 per night.

Situated near South Kensington Station and a 30-minute or so walk to Stamford Bridge, if you want to enjoy the spoils of the wider London region and still be within reach of the Chelsea match, you can get the best of both worlds.

Location: 109-113 Queen’s Gate, South Kensington, London SW7 5LP

Is There a Hotel Purely for Football Fans?

When traveling to watch football, it is a bonus to stay in accommodations geared toward fans. As hotels near stadiums tend to garner a portion of their revenue from a club’s fanbase, they become accustomed to it and thus begin to adapt to the needs of the football faithful. Chelsea have taken this into their own hands by allowing fans to stay at the stadium itself.

Millennium Hotel

The Millenium Hotel is a no-brainer for diehard Chelsea fans who want to spend time in the area and be as close to their beloved club as possible, with it located within the stadium grounds. I

If traveling to The Bridge from abroad for the first time, the prospect of telling friends and family about the time you stayed at the home of the Blues may be too good to turn down.

With the unique experience on offer here, you may have the assumption that it comes at a premium, which is far from the case. When I booked to stay there after a Champions League evening game, I was slightly confused at the £115 per night price tag, half expecting it to be in the £200 to £300 range.

Are There AirBnB Options Near Stamford Bridge?

After exploding onto the scene in 2008, AirBnb has become a cultural phenomenon, redefining the hotel and short-rental game completely. Many of us prefer to stay in more ‘cozy’ locations with a personality curated to give that sense of being at home, and unfortunately, hotels sometimes can’t offer this.

The option to stay in an apartment or a home share can sometimes be far more appealing than being holed up in a hotel room, especially if you want to experience Chelsea for a longer period.

Due to it being a dynamic marketplace with ever-changing listings and prices, we can only provide the price and quality range that you can expect from Airbnb rooms and apartments in the Chelsea area.

Rooms in Chelsea: Range from £60 to £120 per night depending on the size and quality of the listing.

Apartments in Chelsea: Range from £150 to £750 per night (based on a long weekend Friday – Monday)

Best Hotel Options in the City

There are a few reasons why you may swerve staying in Chelsea directly, and opt for setting up your base in Central London instead. Whether there are better deals to be had further out, you also have included landmarks and famous places on your itinerary, or you just simply want to feel the exciting hustle and bustle of the city, there is a very interesting option that ticks those boxes.

Sea Containers London

One of the more uniquely themed hotels on the list, the Sea Containers London, is situated in the Southbank region of the city, overlooking the iconic River Thames. Based on the appearance of a 1920s cruiseliner, it is a sight to behold, with views to die for and a Titanic-esque interior. Don’t worry, though; it is firmly built on land!

Despite the incredible attention to detail and top-quality amenities throughout the building, the pricing sits within the mid-range of top London hotels.

The location is also perfect for fans who want to experience the hip ambience of the riverside while having a direct link to Stamford Bridge. By simply taking a District Line train from Blackfriars to Fulham Broadway you can be in Chelsea in around 30 minutes.

Location: 20 Upper Ground, London SE1 9PD

Have an Enjoyable Stay in Chelsea

When having the pleasure of traveling to watch Chelsea play at Stamford Bridge and settling in the area nearby, you are essentially guaranteed a pleasant stay. I say this as the upper-class feel of Fulham, Chelsea, and Kensington is palpable, and the options for satisfactory accommodation are endless. This inherently causes an issue of ‘too many possibilities’, so I hope this list has helped narrow the options down to a manageable level. Feel free to use this guide to gather ideas for stays around The Bridge and help ease the burden of scouring the internet for hours on end.
