The Best NFL Cities for a Weekend Away

An NFL game can be the centerpiece of an entire weekend away. Pick the right city and you can spend Saturday sightseeing, eating and exploring before turning Sunday into game day.

Based on football culture, stadium access, things to do and overall weekend appeal, here are 10 NFL cities worth considering, along with an idea of what each trip could cost.

New Orleans, Louisiana

  • Team: New Orleans Saints
  • Stadium: Caesars Superdome
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $67
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $500–$700 per person

New Orleans gives you far more than football. The Superdome is downtown and close to many central hotels, making it possible to enjoy the city without renting a car. Spend Saturday exploring the French Quarter, trying Creole and Cajun food and listening to live music around Frenchmen Street before heading to the Saints game on Sunday.

Don’t miss: French Quarter, Frenchmen Street and the National WWII Museum.

Seattle, Washington

  • Team: Seattle Seahawks
  • Stadium: Lumen Field
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $149
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $700–$950 per person

Lumen Field’s location makes Seattle particularly convenient for a short NFL trip. It’s beside Pioneer Square and within walking distance of downtown, while light rail connects the area with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Away from football, visit Pike Place Market, explore the waterfront or take a ferry across Puget Sound.

Don’t miss: Pike Place Market and Seattle waterfront.

Chicago, Illinois

  • Team: Chicago Bears
  • Stadium: Soldier Field
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $263
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $850–$1,150 per person

Chicago works especially well if you want a full city break alongside the game. Soldier Field sits beside Lake Michigan and close to the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Grant Park. The weekend can also include Millennium Park, an architecture cruise and, of course, deep-dish pizza. Bears tickets can be expensive, however, making Chicago one of the pricier trips on this list.

Don’t miss: Chicago River architecture cruise and Millennium Park.

Green Bay, Wisconsin

  • Team: Green Bay Packers
  • Stadium: Lambeau Field
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $253
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $700–$1,000 per person

Green Bay is less about a traditional city break and more about immersing yourself in football history. Take a Lambeau Field tour, visit the Packers Hall of Fame and explore the neighboring Titletown district before game day. Tickets aren’t cheap, but few NFL destinations are as closely associated with their team.

Don’t miss: Lambeau Field tour and Packers Hall of Fame.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

  • Team: Philadelphia Eagles
  • Stadium: Lincoln Financial Field
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $319
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $900–$1,200 per person

Philadelphia combines a passionate football culture with plenty to fill the rest of the weekend. Visit Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and Reading Terminal Market before heading to the stadium. The Broad Street Line connects central Philadelphia with the stadium complex, making public transportation a practical game-day option. The downside is ticket price, with Eagles games among the most expensive in 2025.

Don’t miss: Reading Terminal Market and Independence Hall.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

  • Team: Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Stadium: Acrisure Stadium
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $184
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $650–$900 per person

Acrisure Stadium’s North Shore location puts visitors close to downtown and several major attractions. Spend Saturday exploring the Strip District, visiting the Andy Warhol Museum or riding the Duquesne Incline for panoramic city views. Pittsburgh’s strong football history makes the game feel like a natural part of the destination.

Don’t miss: Duquesne Incline and the Strip District.

Kansas City, Missouri

  • Team: Kansas City Chiefs
  • Stadium: GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $207
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $700–$950 per person

Kansas City offers two major attractions for visiting fans: football and barbecue. Use Saturday to explore the city’s barbecue restaurants, Crossroads Arts District and National WWI Museum and Memorial. On Sunday, arrive at Arrowhead early enough to experience the tailgating scene before kickoff.

Don’t miss: Kansas City barbecue and the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

Las Vegas, Nevada

  • Team: Las Vegas Raiders
  • Stadium: Allegiant Stadium
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $281
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $750–$1,100 per person

Las Vegas is an easy NFL destination to turn into a complete weekend away. Allegiant Stadium is close to the Strip, putting hotels, restaurants, shows and entertainment within easy reach. Hotels can sometimes offer good value, although resort fees and busy event weekends can push up the final cost.

Don’t miss: Las Vegas Strip, Bellagio fountains and a show.

Denver, Colorado

  • Team: Denver Broncos
  • Stadium: Empower Field at Mile High
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $170
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $650–$900 per person

Denver is a strong choice if you want to combine football with a wider Colorado trip. The stadium is close to downtown, while Union Station, restaurants and breweries give you plenty to explore. Add an extra day and you can also head toward the Rocky Mountains, giving the trip a completely different dimension.

Don’t miss: Union Station and a trip toward the Rocky Mountains.

Buffalo, New York

  • Team: Buffalo Bills
  • Stadium: Highmark Stadium
  • 2025 average get-in ticket: Around $252
  • Estimated two-night weekend: $700–$1,000 per person

Buffalo is a football-first destination, with the Bills’ pregame atmosphere a major part of the experience. Highmark Stadium is in Orchard Park rather than downtown, so transportation needs some planning. Use the rest of the weekend to try Buffalo’s famous wings and, if time allows, visit Niagara Falls, roughly half an hour from downtown Buffalo.

Don’t miss: Niagara Falls, Buffalo wings and the pregame atmosphere.

How Much Should You Budget?

For one person, a two-night NFL weekend will generally require around $600 to $1,200 before flights, depending on the city, hotel and matchup.

Tickets are one of the biggest variables. Among these destinations, 2025 average get-in prices ranged from around $67 in New Orleans to $319 in Philadelphia. Accommodation can add another few hundred dollars, while food, transportation and attractions should also be included in your budget. These figures are planning estimates rather than fixed prices. NFL ticket and hotel prices can change significantly depending on the opponent, date and demand.

Which City Should You Choose?

  • For football history = Green Bay is difficult to replicate.
  • For football with food and nightlife = New Orleans.
  • Sightseeing = Chicago, Seattle and Philadelphia.
  • For extending the trip beyond the city = Denver
  • For game-day culture = Buffalo and Kansas City

The best NFL weekend isn’t necessarily about finding the biggest stadium or cheapest ticket. Choose somewhere you’d still be excited to visit even if there wasn’t a game, and the football becomes the highlight of an already memorable weekend.
