You’ll notice there are huge variations in stadium capacities, from the petite Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, KS, to the towering MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Most of these stadiums are modern, like SoFi Stadium in Southern California, which has the largest infinity screen ever made for a sports stadium. We have gathered nice information and tips about Copa America stadiums.

Which teams will play at Copa America 2024?

After the three group-stage matches, the top two teams in each group will make it through to the quarterfinals.

Who will win Copa America 2024?

That’s the million-dollar question! Argentina and Brazil are the current favorites, and in the last 10 editions of the tournament (dating back to 1997), the final has only been played twice without at least one of those teams featuring. Brazilian superstar Neymar will miss the tournament with an ACL (knee) injury, but Brazil still has a squad that I think could take them all the way.

Their (potentially) biggest roadblock? A giant, Messi-shaped Argentinian side fresh off a FIFA World Cup title in 2022. Argentina (who won the last edition of Copa America in 2021) are favorites to go all the way, and it’s hard to argue with that when you see their squad on paper. As Messi will be at Copa America, we know that it’s a big game changer.

I also like Uruguay, Colombia, and the United States’ chances (yes, all the front-runners, I know, but I really don’t see a dark horse this time around), For Uruguay, a lot hinges on Darwin Nunez’s ability to not hit the crossbar and Luis Suárez’s ability to continue the run of form he’s currently having at Inter Miami. Some US players are currently in great form – if this continues (and they stay healthy), I think they could go a long way in a home tournament.

Tickets for Copa America 2024

Tickets for Copa America 2024 officially went on sale on February 28th, 2024. Visit this official Copa America 2024 page to browse each game, then click on the “Get tickets” button for the game you’re interested in. You’ll be redirected to either Ticketmaster or SeatGeek, as both platforms have the rights to different Copa America 2024 matches.

Once redirected, you can browse and select your tickets. Many matches still have original, face-value tickets available, while some have sold out and only resale tickets remain, which may be priced significantly higher than original tickets.

This is the safest way to purchase your Copa America tickets, as even resale tickets have to be first physically purchased before they can be uploaded. Don’t purchase tickets directly from a seller, or on any other third-party platform like Ticket-compare, marketplace, or social media. Have a look at our Copa America 2024 tickets guide for more tips.

Travel tips for Copa America 2024

Traveling to Copa America 2024 is a great way for fans to soak up the tournament’s amazing atmosphere, and also to check out some of the best US cities out there! Of course, this is a huge country, so travel will require some careful planning. If you haven’t already, now is the time to start planning your trip to Copa America 2024!

There are many flights from South America to Copa America cities. Because the tournament is in June, a peak travel time in the US, expect flights to be expensive, especially if you choose a non-stop option (Atlanta from Buenos Aires is approx. 10 hours and $1,200). To secure your visa to enter the US (more on that later) you’ll also need proof of a return flight to show that you don’t intend to stay in the US long-term. If you’re not sure which city you’re going to be flying out of yet, you can always book a return flight with flexible dates/times and change it (or cancel it) as needed – just make sure your fare allows you to do that.

Travel documents and requirements for traveling to the USA

If you’re traveling to the US from Argentina, you’ll need to make sure you have a valid passport that doesn’t expire until after you leave the US. As Argentina is no longer part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), you’ll also need a valid visa to enter the United States.

  1. There are no electronic visa options for Argentina citizens – you’ll have to schedule an appointment and secure a physical visa in your passport before you can travel to the US.
  2. To apply for the necessary B-2 Visitor Visa, you need to have at least 6 months of eligibility on your passport and a return ticket that shows your intentions to leave the US.
  3. You’ll need to first complete Form DS-160, then, unless otherwise indicated, schedule a visa interview at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires. Make sure you understand all the documentation and fees required, and consult with an immigration professional if you’re not sure about the process.
  4. You’ll need to show your visa when you check in for your flight, and usually again when you board the plane.
  5. You’ll also need to have your visa ready to show a US immigration official once you land, before you can clear US customs.

Where to stay at Copa America 2024

Unless you have friends or family you can stay with, your best option for Copa America 2024 accommodation is hotels or Airbnbs in each host city. While motels are also an option (and can be cheaper), they tend to be on the outskirts of larger cities and may make it difficult for you to get to games if you don’t have a car.

Hotels are a great option if you’re traveling solo or as a couple. To save money, opt for hotels that are away from the main, touristy parts of the city. If you’re traveling with a larger group, you might find that an Airbnb is better value than multiple hotel rooms – check out the options for the city you’re staying in and compare prices.

In some larger US cities you may also find hostels, but these aren’t as common (or as cheap!) as the ones you’ll see in Europe and other parts of the world.

Transport at Copa America 2024

Transport is another element of traveling for Copa America you’ll have to navigate. If you’re traveling between host cities, flying is usually the best option – the distances between most host cities are pretty extreme. In some cases, you can drive between cities if you’re comfortable with that, and in other (rarer) cases, a bus or train may be an option – check out Greyhound for buses and Amtrak for trains.

In terms of getting to games on match day, it really depends on which city you’re in. Some stadiums, like MetLife Stadium in the NJ/NY area, can easily be reached with public transport, while others, like SoFi Stadium in the Los Angeles area, are a bit more tricky. Most US stadiums are set up for driving, so not all are on public transit routes. Use Google Maps or the stadium’s website to check transport info to your specific matches.  Here you can find a very detailed Copa America transportation guide.

Traveling to Copa America 2024 on a budget

Traveling to Copa America 2024 on a budget won’t be easy, but it’s also not impossible! The first thing you need to understand is that the prices between states can vary significantly. California and New York are two of the most expensive states to visit, while Kansas and Texas tend to be on the cheaper side. Factor this in when choosing which games to go to!

Also, book your flights and accommodation as early as possible. The tournament is held in summer, when prices will be high, and they’re only going to increase as the tournament dates get closer. You can also look into road trips, overnight flights, and even couch-surfing as money-saving tactics for Copa America 2024 budget traveling
